EarthSky Communications’ first and product – the popular, internationally syndicated Earth & Sky science series – began broadcasting in 1991 on a few dozen radio stations scattered throughout the U.S.

Today, EarthSky is a clear voice for science, heard more than 12 million times every day across the globe.

“When did I know the idea would?” asked Deborah Byrd, EarthSky’s founder and president. “It was when we got a National Science Foundation grant in late 1992. The NSF made our science broadcasts possible in those early years. Their belief in us and in the quality of our show is what brought EarthSky Communications from a dream to a reality.”

Over the years, many other sponsors joined NSF in helping EarthSky Communications broadcast the clear voice of science around the world. And the EarthSky team has continued to grow, as has our number of radio affiliates worldwide. Now EarthSky Communications offers its content on various media platforms including:
