Nicky Mercado
Nicky Mercado is audio script editor and production assistant for Earthsky Communications, Inc. Specializing in Spanish audiences, she writes and edits content for the Earthsky’s Spanish-language website at cieloytiera.org.
Originally from Mexico City, Nicky has lived in Austin for over 20 years and brings extensive communications and Spanish language experience to her position. She graduated from The National Autonomous University (UNAM) in Mexico City with a degree in Clinical Psychology. In addition, she completed graduate studies in the area of Child Development.
Since relocating to Austin, has taught Spanish in private settings, at the University of Texas Informal Classes and at the Inlingua Language School. She has also evaluated standardized Spanish tests for National Evaluation Systems for nine years and has been actively involved in the creation of tests for UT’s Bilingual Education Program.
A freelance translator for numerous companies since 1987, Nicky is also active in the Austin community, serving as president of the board of The St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store, as well as national vice president for The Ladies of Charity of USA.
