Images of baby pandas

At first look, you think they’re stuffed. I mean, how often do you see 16 live baby pandas together? Here’s your chance …

The Sichuan Wolong Panda Protection and Breeding Center in southwest China has had a breeding boom. Sixteen pandas – including five sets of twins – have been born since July, 2006.

The cubs are weighed and measured every five days. The heaviest cubs weighs a bit over 24 pounds, while the lightest weighs about 11 pounds. The pandas are due to stop suckling this month. Around that same time, the cubs will start to learn to walk. Once weaned, the panda cubs will attend panda kindergarten.

The zoo expects even more cubs soon, since 38 giant pandas were artificially impregnated.

Why are these pandas being bottle fed? Why aren’t the mothers suckling them? Is this the utmost arrogance, thinking that humans can better teach baby pandas how to be pandas than their own mothers? Sheesh.

Bottle fed b/c it provides them with nutrients that they need to survive. If mother pandas do such a good job suckling them in the wild, how come pandas are almost extinct?? If it weren’t for the Chinese, the pandas would’ve been extinct by now.

Joi de Vivre..what are you doing to help the pandas? um nothing. And these people are helping because obviosly their mother couldnt do a good enough job or like Van said they wouldnt be becoming extinct.

Joi de Vivre…panda milk is weak due to the panda’s diet of bamboo. the panda can only wean one baby at a time, causing many baby pandas to be abandoned if the mother gives birth to more than one which has contributed to their near extinction. they are being bottle fed to ensure their survival. rather than criticize, make sure you know your facts and be happy that someone is concerned enough to preserve this wonderful creature.
