Polar bears in trouble

(March 11, 2007) The receding ice due to climate change brings a threat of possible extinction of polar bears.
According to a U.S. Geological Survey study, Earth’s polar bears could be two-thirds gone by 2050 – that’s only 43 years from now.
Polar bears need the sea ice to stand on when they hunt seals, but there’s less sea ice throughout their Arctic range due to climate change.
Conservation groups would like to see polar bears protected.
But, according to an AP report, three conservation groups sued the Department of the Interior on March 10 for missing a deadline on a decision to list polar bears as threatened because of the loss of Arctic sea ice. A decision was due Jan. 9, one year after the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposed listing the animals as threatened under the Endangered Species Act.

This article is based on alarmist propaganda designed to undermine the economy and livelihood of the people who live in the same area as the “endangered” polar bears, the numbers of which are not declining. There are 20,000 more polar bears today as there were in 1972, but that is suspiciously an absent fact when the “climate change” proponents begin their shrill protests, thousands of miles from what they cry about. Once more, show me proof that man is causing ice to melt, thus endangering “delicate ecosystems”. There is more proof that man does not contribute to climate change than there is proof that he is. Every day the science which has been touted as truth is being exposed as flawed at a minimum, if not downright lies. Do we not see that if an animal can survive 2 ice ages and the warm periods which have occurred between these times that they will surely continue to survive through this current freeze? At this point, 60% of the land mass of the Northern Hemisphere is under ice and snow. Sounds like the polar bears have a terrible time with the catastrophic melt that is happening.
Last I heard there are 20-25,000 polar bears. With these #s only a fool & politican would consider them endangered or threatened.
ap garcia,
If you were in a city of 20,000 – 25,000 people would you consider that a large city?
A polar bear population of 20-25,000 isn’t very large either.

Please read my first post. There are 20,000 MORE polar bears NOW than there WERE in 1972. It appears that alarmist inaccuracies are becoming part of this site.
Don’t you think it is time to quit living in the past? Paul Harvey reported just a few weeks back that this year we have seen such a low global temperature that it has compensated for the rise in global temperatures for the last 100 years. WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD WHERE GOD HAS CONTROL OF MOTHER NATURE AFTER ALL!!!!
Where do these naysayers get THEIR facts. (Oh, excuse me. They can’t be bothered with the facts.) As for ‘god’? … powerless at this point. God creates and steps back. It’s up to us.
