Parasite disguises ant as berry

Scientists have discovered a type of tiny nematode parasite that disguises an ant as a fruit. These nematodes have managed to trick birds into eating their hosts, said tropical insect ecologist Steve Yanoviak.

Building a global fish-barcode library

Bruce Collette of Washington, DC is working to assign barcodes to all 30,000 fish species. But unlike barcodes at the grocery store, these won’t give you a price. These DNA barcodes – small, unique sections of genetic code – can be used to differentiate between species.
