Project Budburst begins April 1, 2007. Join Project Budburst’s mailing list.

This spring, teachers, students, families and individuals across North America will take part in a nature walk for science.

It’s called Project Budburst, and it’s open to anyone who wants to join in. You participate by looking for specific blooms and leaves that are easily found in your neighborhoods or local parks. Then, via the Internet , you tell scientists what you’ve found.

This information is important to scientists in answering questions about the timing of the 2007 spring season and changes observed in Earth’s climate.

Earth & Sky’s Jorge Salazar spoke with Carol Brewer, professor of biological sciences at the University of Montana. She talked about nature’s “clock” and about how to get involved in Project Budburst.
