Many people assume that the march of human evolution ended when man stood upright – and put on a business suit. But according to anthropologist John Hawks, evolution hasn’t slowed to a crawl – it’s sped up to a sprint.

Hawks is the author of a 2007 study which says that evolution in the past 5,000 years has been occurring at a rate 100 times higher than any other time in human history.

In this 8-minute podcast, Earth & Sky’s Lindsay Patterson talks with Hawks about the forces behind the speedup.

Plus, he gives a quick lesson in evolutionary theory, and explains how genetics is actually a lot like playing cards in Vegas.

Evidently Mr Hawks is not including the Republican Party in his assumption of evolution speeding up.

as we evolve and go off into our destiny ( space ) space travel.
we will rely on man made light more and more witch means our skin will grey over time.we will rely on gravity less and less and phisical work will be done more by robots than humans and mussel mass will decrease.but the computer programs will be much more intence than ever before too operate those machines. smaller mussels means more thinkin too get the job done.so bigger head now with that man made light means bigger eye,s to see better.

now put on your thinkin cap cuz here it comes!!

      less light,way less gravity,less mussel mass,way more thinkin .
witch means the human race will become those little grey men and women in the future. so are those sightings our future relitves i think so….. hhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!
