Antonio Rangel: this is your brain on wine
(Credit: lostintheredwoods. Some rights reserved.)
Antonio Rangel is a neuroscientist at the California Institute of Technology.
In a recent experiment, he asked test subjects inside an MRI scanner to sip wines of different prices, so he could monitor their brain’s response.
He said the study was to find out which variables affect the experience of pleasantness in the brain. The study shows that we go into an experience with beliefs or expectations – which affect the experience itself.
He talked with Earth & Sky’s Lindsay Patterson.
