NOAA Scientist Marty Ralph is Project Manager of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Project, and he spoke with EarthSky’s Jorge Salazar by phone about NOAA’s plans to expand its fleet of robot airplanes.
Ralph told Earth & Sky that he and his team will deploy the robot planes for missions they call “dirty, dull, and dangerous” — that might mean forest fires, Arctic sea ice, or hurricanes.
