‘Human beings have been driving the planet out of balance for the last hundred years or so. That hasn’t stopped. And it’s not likely to.’ – Josh Willis

Oceanographer Josh Willis of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory is talking about what scientists call Earth’s energy balance, where the energy from sunlight striking the Earth matches the amount it radiates back out to space.

A key player in that balance are Earth’s oceans, which Willis studies using thousands of robotic underwater sensors. In this Clear Voices for Science podcast, EarthSky’s Jorge Salazar speaks with Willis about what role oceans play in Earth’s energy balance.

Our thanks to NASA’s Terra Mission, helping us better understand and protect our home planet.
