Google Sky makes EarthSky podcasts available through web browsers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE : March 17, 2008

Sky in Google Earth has announced that astronomy enthusiasts can now access sky information – including EarthSky podcasts – through internet browsers. EarthSky’s content has been integrated into the feature since January 2008.

Prior to this, Sky in Google Earth users needed to download and install the Google Earth application in order to view the sky through Google’s powerful lens. Now – if they prefer – users can use their own web browsers directly to explore the universe, zoom in and out of images of celestial bodies, view the sky in various wavelengths including infrared, x-ray, ultraviolet, and microwave … and of course listen to EarthSky’s clear voice for science explaining the cosmos.

Sky in Google Earth was introduced as a new feature of Google Earth in August 2007.

To view Google Sky via your browser, click here. Look on the far right of the menu bar (bottom of page) to find the EarthSky podcasts.
